UniBen Reopens on August 11 After Protests: Students Must Submit Affidavit

The University of Benin (UniBen) is set to reopen on August 11, following a period of closure due to students’ protests and agitations.

The institution’s Senate had announced the closure on July 4, prompted by weeks of power outages on campus. Now, as part of the conditions for resumption, each returning student is required to swear an affidavit of undertaking to maintain good conduct while at the university.

The affidavit must address specific points outlined in the circular and be uploaded to the students’ Kofa page within two weeks of resumption. Failure to comply may result in withholding of results for defaulting students.

UniBen assures students that necessary actions have been taken to address the issues that led to the closure, and normal academic activities are expected to resume without any disruptions.
