The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, has reassured Nigerians living in the UK of their safety in the wake of recent anti-immigration riots.

During a meeting with the CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in Abuja, Montgomery emphasized the UK’s commitment to protecting all residents, regardless of nationality.

She said “We appreciate the British High Commissioner’s assurance of safety for Nigerians in the UK. Our citizens deserve protection and respect, regardless of their location. We urge calm and vigilance during these challenging times.”

The riots, sparked by misinformation surrounding a stabbing attack in Southport, have led to tensions in several British towns. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and urge vigilance among affected communities.
