SEMA Rescues 3,682 Trapped in Maiduguri Flood

In a remarkable rescue operation, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has successfully rescued 3,682 individuals who were trapped by severe flooding in Maiduguri. The floods, caused by days of relentless rainfall, inundated several neighborhoods, leaving thousands stranded.

SEMA officials reported that the rescue efforts involved coordinated actions from local authorities, volunteers, and emergency response teams. The rescued individuals have been relocated to temporary shelters where they are receiving necessary aid, including food, water, and medical assistance.

The flooding has caused significant damage to infrastructure, with many homes and roads submerged. The state government has urged residents to remain vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines as more rain is expected in the coming days.

Governor Babagana Zulum commended the swift response of SEMA and other agencies involved in the rescue operations. He assured the public that efforts are ongoing to provide relief and support to those affected by the disaster.

As the region braces for more potential flooding, the focus remains on ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents. The government has also called for increased support from federal agencies and international organizations to aid in the recovery and rebuilding process.
