RCCG’s Pastor Adeboye Condemns Braided Hair for Male Pastors, Heavy Makeup for Women on the Altar

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has taken a firm stance against male pastors with braided hair and female pastors with heavy makeup or false eyelashes. Speaking during the church’s annual convention, Adeboye made it clear that such appearances would no longer be tolerated on the altar.
In his address, Adeboye emphasized that in Yorubaland, braiding is traditionally associated with Sango priests, the worshippers of the god of thunder, and declared that such practices have no place in RCCG. “Even after I’m gone, it will still not happen,” he asserted.
The 82-year-old cleric also took aim at women who wear heavy makeup and false nails, suggesting that such trends are an attempt to divert attention from their natural beauty. He urged his followers to embrace modesty, stating, “You are fearfully and wonderfully made. If anybody does not like you the way you are, it’s that person’s loss.”
Adeboye’s comments have sparked conversation about the standards of appearance in religious spaces, with his message urging believers to prioritize modesty and authenticity over modern fashion trends.
