Raphael Varane’s Future Uncertain as Como Considers Contract Termination After Brief Appearance and Serie A Squad Omission

Raphael Varane’s future at Como FC has come into question after the former Manchester United and Real Madrid defender was excluded from the club’s Serie A squad list.

Varane, who joined Como FC on a free transfer from Manchester United, was sidelined following an injury sustained during the season opener against Sampdoria in the Coppa Italia. As a result, he was not registered for the current Serie A campaign.

The French international signed a two-year deal with the club, extending until June 2026 with an option for an additional year. However, discussions regarding a potential mutual contract termination have not been ruled out, given his current situation.

Varane’s muscle injury is expected to keep him out for at least six weeks, though his recovery could take even longer. This setback is reminiscent of his time at Manchester United, where he missed 48 matches over three years due to various injuries.

With his absence confirmed until January, Varane will have to wait for the next registration window to make his Serie A debut for the Northern Italian side.
