Michael Olise, born in England to a Nigerian father and a French-Algerian mother, recently shared his decision to represent France over Nigeria on the international stage.

Despite growing up in France and having ties to multiple nations, Olise chose to align with the French team for his footballing career.

Although he was invited to join the Super Eagles in 2022 as a standby, Olise has now committed to France, even opting to represent the country at the upcoming Olympics, despite being called up to the England squad for Euro 2024.

Speaking with RMC, Olise explained his choice, stating, “My father is from Nigeria and my mother is from France.

I grew up here in France and felt a stronger connection to the French team, which is why I decided to play for France.”
