Ogun State Government Denies Governor Abiodun’s Alleged Insult to Protesters
The Ogun State Government has categorically refuted the claim that Governor Dapo Abiodun insulted Nigerians participating in the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, the allegation is baseless and misleading.
The government clarified that Governor Abiodun was actually referring to certain losers of the 2023 elections who were exploiting the dissent of Nigerian youths to destabilize the country. The chaos witnessed during the protest in various parts of the nation, the statement emphasized, vindicated Abiodun’s position.
Furthermore, the statement highlighted that nowhere in the referenced interview with Channels TV did the governor suggest that ordinary Nigerians expressing their grievances over the economic situation are sore losers. Governor Abiodun has consistently shown respect for Nigerian youths, students, and workers, praising their conduct during the protests.
The government condemned attempts to take the governor’s words out of context, emphasizing that he remains committed to the well-being of the people. It also pointed out that the ongoing hunger protest is being exploited by certain political opponents for their own gain, leading to unwarranted attacks on the governor.

The Ogun State Government firmly denies any insult directed at ordinary Nigerians and reaffirms Governor Abiodun’s respect for protesters and commitment to their happiness.
