NSA promises tough time for terrorists, others in 2025
The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has assured Nigerians of a reinvigorated approach to tackling terrorism, violent extremism, and organised crime as the country steps into 2025.

Ribadu highlighted a robust strategy involving enhanced collaboration, innovative measures, and proactive responses to address the nation’s security challenges in 2025. Speaking in a statement on Wednesday by the Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, Maj. Gen. Adamu Laka, Ribadu expressed confidence that recent advancements, including the operationalisation of the Multi-Agency Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell, would help in combating violent crimes in the new year.
He highlights recent advancements, including the operationalisation of the Multi-Agency Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell at the National Counter-Terrorism Centre developed with support from the United Kingdom National Crime Agency to address kidnapping and related crimes. Additionally, dedicated emergency numbers will be made available to facilitate timely reporting and intervention. Reflecting on the security landscape in 2024, Ribadu acknowledged significant challenges, such as the resurgence of the Lakurawa terrorist group in the North-West and the sabotage of critical national infrastructure by non-state actors.
He emphasised that the progress made was a result of collaboration among the Armed Forces, security agencies, intelligence community, and the active cooperation of Nigerians. He also commended the families of these personnel for their unwavering support.
Your sacrifices on the front lines, despite the harshest conditions, demonstrate staunch patriotism, courage, and dedication,” Ribadu said. Looking ahead, Ribadu urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and cooperative in the fight against insecurity.
