“Nottingham Forest’s Super Eagles Defender Confident Ahead of Sunday Clash Against Brighton: ‘We’re Ready to Fight'”
Ola Aina delivered an outstanding performance in Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, keeping the opposition’s attackers in check throughout the match.
Nottingham Forest is keen on extending the contract of Super Eagles defender beyond next summer
Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest full-back Ola Aina has expressed his desire to remain with the club and is optimistic about maintaining their positive momentum ahead of Sunday’s match against Brighton.
The 27-year-old joined Forest from Torino in 2022 and has since made 26 appearances under manager Nuno Espírito Santo.
With his current contract set to expire next summer, Aina acknowledged that while his future at the City Ground is uncertain, he’s content with his present situation at the club.
“I’m really happy at Nottingham Forest. It’s a fantastic club, and I feel at home here. We’re all growing—both myself and the club. We’ll see what the future holds, but right now, the atmosphere around the club is very positive, and we’re continuing to build from last season,” Aina shared, as quoted by Forest Watch.
Since their promotion to the Premier League in 2022, Nottingham Forest has faced challenges breaking into the top ten. They narrowly avoided relegation in the 2022/2023 season, and a points deduction the following year added to their difficulties.
However, under Nuno’s leadership this season, Forest remains unbeaten in four matches and currently sits in 7th place. Aina believes the team is prepared for the challenges ahead, starting with their match against Brighton.
“Last season had its tough moments, but the energy within the club remained positive, and I feel we’ve built on that. There’s a strong sense of optimism because we’ve started well, and we want to build on each performance every week. We’ve always been united, and those struggles last season helped strengthen our bond. Even without the difficulties, we’re a close-knit team, and that shows on the pitch. We’re ready to fight for each other and go the extra mile,” Aina added.
Aina has started all four of Forest’s Premier League matches this season, while Taiwo Awoniyi has settled into a secondary role behind Chris Wood in the attack.
