Nigerian Army Orders Investigation into Killing of Three Locals and Cattle in Kaduna

In a recent incident that has drawn widespread attention, soldiers from Division 1 of the Nigerian Army allegedly killed three individuals and over 100 cattle in the Sabon Birni area of Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State. Villagers in Sabon Birni reported this disturbing incident, which occurred during an operation at a local cattle market.

Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, issued a statement in response. He expressed sympathy for the Sabon Birni community and the affected families, emphasizing that the Nigerian Army is constitutionally mandated to protect lives and property. The allegation will be thoroughly investigated, and any personnel found culpable will face appropriate sanctions.

Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja has directed a comprehensive investigation into the incident. The goal is to establish both the immediate and remote causes of the tragedy and identify those responsible.
