Loan Probe: Kaduna Assembly Grills El-Rufai’s Ex-Appointees for Nine Hours

The Kaduna State House of Assembly recently intensified its investigation into the eight-year tenure of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai. An ad hoc committee, chaired by Henry Danjuma, Deputy Speaker of the House, summoned both former and current officials to shed light on financial matters, loans, and contract projects during El-Rufai’s administration¹. The session, which lasted for about nine hours, involved grilling former commissioners, administrators, and contractors.

El-Rufai’s successor, Governor Uba Sani, had disclosed a substantial debt profile left behind by the previous administration, leading to challenges in paying workers’ salaries. The probe aims to unravel any discrepancies in loans and contractual obligations during El-Rufai’s tenure¹. The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State supports this move.

The Kaduna State House of Assembly is actively investigating the financial dealings of the former governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and his administration. The probe seeks to shed light on loans, contracts, and financial matters during his eight-year tenure. The current governor, Uba Sani, has expressed concern about the debt profile inherited from El-Rufai’s administration. The investigation aims to ensure transparency and accountability in the state’s financial affairs.
