Kelechi Nwakali, a 26-year-old Nigerian midfielder, has signed a three-year contract with Barnsley, a third-tier English club.

Nwakali returns to England after previously playing in the Premier League. He joins Barnsley from GD Chaves in Portugal for an undisclosed fee.

The midfielder expressed his excitement about joining Barnsley, stating that he is eager to prove himself at the club. He was first linked with the team two years ago.

Nwakali spoke with Barnsley’s manager, Mladen, and head coach, Darrell, earlier in the summer, which solidified his decision to join the club. He believes he can make a significant contribution to the team.

Nwakali is looking forward to playing in England again and making Oakwell, Barnsley’s home stadium, his home for the next three years. He won the MVP award at the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup.
