JUST IN: DSS Arrests #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Protest Leader in Abuja

On August 5, 2024, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) apprehended Micheal Lenin, a prominent leader of the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests in the Federal Capital Territory. The arrest occurred around 2 am at Lenin’s residence in the Apo area of Abuja.

Lenin, who serves as the National Coordinator of the Youth Rights Campaign, had been one of the organizers expressing disappointment with President Bola Tinubu’s recent broadcast.

In that address, President Tinubu justified state violence against protesters and journalists, which further fueled the demonstrations. Lenin vowed that the protests would continue, urging Nigerians to join in large numbers until their demands are met. He emphasized that both violence and propaganda would not deter their movement.

The DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, has yet to respond to inquiries regarding Lenin’s arrest. Meanwhile, citizens remain resolute, continuing their call for change and accountability in governance.
