Idris to Represent Tinubu at Indonesia-Africa Forum
Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, is set to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Second Indonesia-Africa Forum. The event, themed “Bandung Spirit for Africa’s Agenda 2023,” is being held in Bali from September 1st to 3rd, 2024.
The forum aims to strengthen the historical ties between Indonesia and African nations, recalling the spirit of the 1955 Bandung Conference, which marked a new chapter of solidarity and collaboration between Asia and Africa. This year’s forum seeks to deepen the synergy between Indonesia’s Vision 2045 and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
In a statement released by his media aide, Rabiu Ibrahim, Minister Idris emphasized the importance of the forum in showcasing Nigeria’s investment potential and highlighting the socio-economic gains of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “I look forward to representing His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the government and people of Nigeria at the Second Indonesia-Africa Forum,” Idris stated.
The forum will provide a platform for discussions on various issues of mutual interest, including trade, investment, and cultural exchange. Nigeria and Indonesia have enjoyed a strong and friendly bond over the years, with Indonesia designating Nigeria as its African investment destination from 2022 to 2026. The trade volume between the two countries reached $6 billion in 2023, up from $4 billion a decade ago.
During his stay in Indonesia, Minister Idris will advocate for opportunities for Nigerian businesses to play an active role in the Indonesian economy and will highlight Indonesia’s support to Nigeria, including the donation of 1.58 million doses of the Pentavalent vaccine in 2023.
The Second Indonesia-Africa Forum is expected to be a memorable milestone in strengthening the bonds between Indonesia and African nations, fostering a future of shared prosperity and collaboration.
