Fleeing Terrorists Kill Five in Plateau Community

In a tragic incident, five individuals were killed by fleeing terrorists in the Mbar community of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State. The attack occurred on Sunday night between 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., as the victims were traveling from Mbar town to Koh village.

The terrorists, who were initially repelled by the military from the surrounding mountains, ambushed the victims on motorcycles. The Chairman of the Bokkos Cultural Development Council Vanguard, Farmasun Fuddang, confirmed the killings in a statement on Monday. “We wish to condemn in the strongest terms the tragic killing of five innocent young men in Mbar community on September 15, despite prior intelligence reports of suspected terrorists’ influx into the area,” Fuddang stated.

The community has expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the incident. The Bokkos Cultural Development Council Vanguard emphasized the need for greater involvement of local communities in security efforts. “We request to be involved in the handling of the threats in our land, working in synergy with security forces as is the case with the civilian joint task force in the North-East and North-West regions,” the statement read.

The organization also called on residents to avoid late movements as advised by security authorities to minimize risks. “We will not stand idly by while our people, a small minority in Nigeria, are eliminated from the face of the earth,” the statement further emphasized.

This latest attack adds to a series of violent incidents in the region, including the recent murder of 11 youths in Tarangol, Daffo, and Bargesh villages on September 3. The community continues to call for increased security measures and greater collaboration between local residents and security forces to prevent further tragedies.
