FG Begins Sale of 50kg Rice for N40,000 to Address Rising Cost of Food
The Federal Government of Nigeria has taken a significant step in addressing the food crisis affecting the nation. In an effort to alleviate the impact of rising food prices, the government has announced the sale of a 50kg bag of rice at N40,000 exclusively to public servants.

According to a letter from the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, all interested staff members are required to complete a Google form on the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) website. Once endorsed by the director of human resources, eligible individuals will be able to purchase the rice.
Transparency is a key consideration in this initiative. The chairman of the Joint Union Council of the ministry will serve as an observer during the distribution process. This measure aims to ensure fairness and accountability.
The move comes amid nationwide protests driven by economic hardship and the cost-of-living crisis faced by Nigerians. With the sale of rice directly to public servants, the government hopes to mitigate the effects of food scarcity and provide relief to citizens.
As the situation unfolds, citizens eagerly await further details on the distribution process and its impact on households across the country. The government’s commitment to transparency and addressing the food crisis remains under scrutiny as Nigerians continue to voice their concerns.
