Federal Government Distributes 20 Trucks of Rice to States Amid Food Crisis

In a bid to alleviate the ongoing food crisis, the Federal Government of Nigeria has distributed 20 trucks of rice to each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. This initiative, announced by Information Minister Mohammed Idris, aims to support vulnerable populations struggling with the rising cost of living.
Each truck contains approximately 1,200 bags of 25kg rice, which state governments are expected to distribute to those most in need. This measure is part of a broader strategy to mitigate the impact of food shortages and high prices, which have been exacerbated by the removal of petrol subsidies last year.
In related news, President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to meet with labour leaders on Thursday to discuss the pressing issue of minimum wage. This meeting comes amid growing concerns over the economic hardships faced by Nigerian workers, particularly in light of recent inflation and the high cost of essential goods.
The discussions are expected to focus on potential adjustments to the minimum wage to better reflect the current economic realities and provide relief to workers. Labour leaders have been vocal about the need for a wage increase to help workers cope with the rising cost of living.
Stay tuned for updates on these critical developments as the government continues to address the challenges facing the nation.
