Court Lifts Order on Property and N725m Linked to Former NIMASA boss
Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Lagos has actually lifted the interim forfeiture order on properties linked to Dr. Patrick Akpobolokemi, the former head of the Nigerian Maritime Management and Security Agency (NIMASA).
Formerly, on April 3, 2023, Justice Aneke had actually bought the temporary forfeiture of property located at Story No. J37A Close, 2nd Opportunity, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos, for an amount of N725,345,897.77.
The judge granted the order following an ex-parte application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which sought the forfeiture of the possessions to the federal government.
The EFCC declared that the residential properties came from Boloboloere Feature & Estates Limited and that the N725,345,897.77 was held by one more business, Onyeinteke International Network.
The court’s original order stated, “That an order of this honourable court is thus given to the candidate forfeiting during to the Federal Government of Nigeria, the home existing, being, and situated at Story No. J37A Close, 2nd Method, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos, which property is fairly believed to have actually been acquired with proceeds of illegal activity.
“That an order of this honourable court is hereby approved to the candidate forfeiting in the interim to the Federal Government of Nigeria, the overall sum of N725,345,897.77, which amount is sensibly presumed to be proceeds of illegal tasks and warehoused in the account of Onyeinteke Global Network domiciled in UBA PLC and birthing Account No: 1018325345.”
