Conte confirms Kvaratskhelia’s desire to leave Napoli
Napoli head coach Antonio Conte has confirmed that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has requested to be transferred, signaling a potential move away from the club. Reports from Sky in Italy suggest that Paris Saint-Germain is advancing quickly with negotiations for the 23-year-old winger, while Liverpool is also said to be monitoring the situation.
Conte addressed the situation, stating, “As for Kvaratskhelia, he has expressed his desire to be sold. I am speaking candidly. This was initially communicated to me, and later, the player personally confirmed it. I must admit I am disappointed, as I spent six months working with him and the team, focusing on making him a key part of our plans.”
The manager continued, “We worked together with the club to secure a contract renewal, but after this time, we find ourselves back where we started. I face this issue head-on, but I am unable to force someone to stay if they do not want to. Now, I must step back as it’s clear that I cannot hold someone at the club against their will.”
Conte described the player’s decision as unexpected and acknowledged that it was a difficult situation. “If he remains at the club, it should never be thought that I tried to force him to stay. I was overly optimistic in the summer, thinking I could persuade him, but I was not successful. He will not be available for the match against Verona.”
