Chidera Ejuke Sets Historic Record with Sevilla FC

Chidera Ejuke, the Super Eagles winger, has made history by becoming the first Nigerian player to score for Sevilla FC in an official match. His crucial goal contributed to a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Real Valladolid at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.

Ejuke, who transferred to Sevilla from CSKA Moscow after a successful loan at Royale Antwerp, opened his La Liga scoring account during his sixth appearance under manager García Pimienta. In the 85th minute, he capitalized on a defensive mistake from Valladolid, skillfully placing the ball into the net from close range, sealing Sevilla’s second league win of the season.

After the match, Ejuke expressed his joy about the achievement and the team’s performance. “I feel very good and happy. It’s an important victory for the team. Scoring in front of the fans is an incredible feeling, and winning is even more significant,” he remarked to Sevilla FC’s official media.

This goal not only marks a personal milestone for Ejuke but also signifies a historic moment for Nigerian footballers at Sevilla. Alongside his compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho, who also played in the match but was unable to make a notable impact, Ejuke is part of a new chapter for Nigerian representation in the club’s history.
