Thibaut Courtois has praised Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti and explained why he is one of the best in the business.

Courtois spoke to UEFA’s media team ahead of Real Madrid’s Super Cup match against Atalanta and explained what makes his manager so good at what he does.

The Real Madrid goalkeeper said:

“Above all, he is a great man, a great character and a great coach. He finds the right balance between giving us freedom and showing us the tactics he wants.

“He doesn’t just talk about tactics, he gives a lot of freedom to our players, like Vinicius, Rodrygo and Modric. He takes his natural genius. You don’t have to limit yourself to too many tactics. His genius must come out. He manages the dressing room and training very well.

“We work a lot, but we also laugh a lot. We have a good time. We work hard, but we are rewarded for it. And I like it. So I really think he’s one of the best coaches of all time.

Ancelotti has earned the respect of some of the world’s biggest stars, which has seen him collect trophies for fun. He has one of the best squads in the world, but Courtois still believes his team is only better because of his Italian coach and will look to add more European success next week.
