BREAKING: Ex-CJN Onnoghen Arrives Appeal Court, Seeks To Overturn 2019 CCT Ruling On His Removal

Former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, has arrived at the Appeal Court in Abuja to resume his legal battle against the judgment of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) that ordered his removal from office in 2019.

Onnoghen argues that the CCT acted outside its jurisdiction and seeks the reversal of asset forfeiture. He contends that the allegations brought against him constituted no offense and should not have formed the basis for his conviction and removal from office.

This legal proceeding marks a significant moment for Justice Onnoghen, who has waited five long years to have his day in court after his unceremonious removal for breaching the code of conduct for public officers.

His lead counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo, is asking the appellate court to quash his conviction and restore his rights.
