Boko Haram Invades Jakana Police Station in Borno, Killing Two and Setting Vehicles Ablaze
In a deadly assault early Sunday morning, suspected Boko Haram terrorists invaded Jakana Police Station in Konduga local government area of Borno State. The attack resulted in the death of a police driver and a woman. The assailants also torched two patrol vehicles belonging to the police and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), along with a motorcycle. They made off with several arms and ammunition.
Jakana, situated approximately 45 kilometers from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, along the Damaturu-Maiduguri expressway, was the site of the early morning attack. The terrorists launched their assault at around 1 am, engaging security forces in a fierce battle that lasted for nearly three hours. Unfortunately, the insurgents eventually overpowered the security personnel and fled around 3 am.
Chairman of Konduga local government area council, Hon. Abbas Ali Abari, confirmed the incident during a phone call with our correspondent. He stated, “Yes, I received a distress call that Boko Haram terrorists attacked Jakana Police Station last night. I am speaking with the Divisional Police Officer, and whenever I get the details, I will furnish you.” However, he noted that he did not yet have detailed information on the casualties at the time of reporting.
This brazen attack highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by the region and underscores the need for continued vigilance and coordinated efforts to combat terrorism in Nigeria.
