Bobrisky Saga: Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board Suspends Nigerian Correctional Service Officers Over Allegations

 

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board has announced the immediate suspension of several senior officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) in response to allegations of misconduct related to a viral social media video involving Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.

Among those suspended are:

– Michael Anugwa, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) in charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kirikiri, Lagos State.
– Sikiru Adekunle, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) overseeing the Maximum Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), Kirikiri, Lagos State.

Additionally, in Ebonyi State, ASC II Ogbule Samuel Obinna, stationed at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Afikpo, has also been suspended for allegedly escorting a convicted inmate out of the facility without proper authorization.

In a separate incident, the Board has suspended Iloafonsi Kevin Ikechukwu, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje, Abuja. Ikechukwu is accused of accepting money on behalf of an inmate, a significant violation of custodial regulations.

The Board emphasized that these suspensions are essential to ensure comprehensive investigations into the allegations. It also reassured the public that the findings of the investigations will be shared once they are completed.
