Babachir Lawal Urges President Tinubu to Address Nation Amidst Growing Discontent

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Dr. Babachir Lawal, has issued a compelling plea to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In the wake of dispersed pockets of frustration and malcontent across the nation, Lawal implores Tinubu to take decisive action to address Nigerians’ growing discontent.

Lawal emphasizes the urgency of a national broadcast by President Tinubu. This address should outline both immediate and long-term measures to tackle the current economic challenges facing the country.

The former SGF suggests that Tinubu reshuffle his cabinet, striking a balance between technocrats and politicians. Such a mix would enhance communication with citizens and ensure a broader perspective in governance.

Lawal urges Tinubu to avoid intimidation and macho tough talk. Instead, he should present concrete and believable policies that address the nation’s pressing issues. The call for persuasive arguments aims to assuage the frustration of citizens who feel unheard and hungry for change.

Lawal points out the need to address excessive nepotism within the government. He highlights the dominance of the Southwest and the imperceptible revolt brewing due to stifled dissent. The Senate’s dictatorship, where no dissent is tolerated, also raises concerns. Lawal cites Senator Ndume’s recent remarks about the president’s inaccessibility as an example.

As the nation braces for potential protests, President Tinubu faces a critical juncture. His response could shape the trajectory of Nigeria’s future.
