Everton’s defender Ben Godfrey was transferred to Atalanta.

Godfrey joined Norwich City in October 2020 and made 93 appearances in all competitions over the next three-and-a-half years.

He made his first team debut that month in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool and earned international recognition by making two England appearances.

But now Godfrey has brokered a deal worth £8.5m, linking former Goodison Park prospect Ademola Lookman with their Europa League rivals.

Lyon was also interested in the 26-year-old player, but the transfer to Gian Luigi Gasperini was completed on Friday night. After moving to La dea, Godfrey wrote a farewell letter to the Blues.
