Argentina’s Vice president Backs Enzo Fernandez Despite Racist Chant Criticism

The world football body is investigating a video of Argentinian players singing “hateful and hateful” songs about Kylian Mbappe.

FIFA is investigating a video posted on social media showing members of the Argentinian national team praising French players in what the French Football Federation (FFF) called “full of hate and hatred.”

Argentinian players will lodge a complaint with football’s world governing body over a video of French forward Kylian Mbappe singing about his African heritage, the FFF said on Monday.

The video was posted on Instagram by Argentine forward Enzo Fernandez as his team celebrated their Copa America victory with a 1-0 win over Colombia. A FIFA spokesperson said in a statement: “FIFA is aware of the video posted on social media and is investigating the incident.” “FIFA sanctions all forms of discrimination by everyone, including players, fans and officials.” wrote, “The language in this song is very bad and there is no excuse for this language.”

Fernandes’ Chelsea teammate Wesley Fofana had previously described the image as “racist”. However, Argentine Vice President Victoria Villaruel defended Fernandez and the group, saying she would not tolerate the “colonial” country’s behavior. “No colonial power will threaten us for singing the song or telling the truth they don’t want to accept,” Villaruel said to number X. “Argentina is a sovereign and free country.

We have never been colonial or second-class citizens. We have never imposed our way of life on anyone. ….Enzo, I support you, (Lionel) Messi, that’s what Argentinians have always done to keep their heads up thank you for everything Argentine President Javier Milai’s office said late Wednesday that he had fired the comment from the country’s leading athlete, Julio Garro.

Argentina’s Messi apologized for his comments. “The Office of the President announced that no government can decide what to say, think or do to the Argentine national team, international competitors and two-time U.S. champions, or other citizens.”

Office of the President wrote at X .. “Therefore, Julio Garro is not working as Vice President of National Sports.”

Fernandez’s Premier League club Chelsea said in a statement that all forms of racism were unacceptable and wrote to Dow: “We are proud to be diverse and belong to a club where people of all races, communities and people are welcome.
