Ahmed Musa hits brace on his Kano Pillars return

Former CSKA Moscow forward Ahmed Musa made a triumphant return to Kano Pillars by scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory over Sunshine Stars in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday.

Musa, who had been without a club since his departure from Turkish side Sivasspor in February, rejoined Kano Pillars earlier this month. The 31-year-old, who began his professional career at the club before moving to Europe in 2010, has now made a strong comeback to his boyhood team. This marks his second stint with Pillars, following a brief return in 2021 after leaving Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.

The Super Eagles veteran wasted no time making an impact, featuring in the starting lineup against Sunshine Stars. Just four minutes into the game, Musa capitalized on a loose ball in the penalty area, firing home the opening goal with a powerful strike.

Despite dominating possession, Kano Pillars had to wait until the second half for their second goal. Once again, Musa was on target, calmly finishing past Sunshine Stars’ goalkeeper Emmanuel Ofori to seal the victory.

Musa had an opportunity to complete his hat-trick in the 70th minute from the penalty spot, but his effort struck the crossbar. Nonetheless, his two goals were enough to secure all three points for Kano Pillars as they celebrated a 2-0 win.
