Africa: FIFA ranking – Nigeria maintains its world position and remains first in Africa.
Nigeria’s women’s football team, the Super Falcons, has maintained the 36th position in the latest FIFA world rankings, according to the list released on Saturday, August 17, 2024.
The Super Falcons also remain the highest ranked women’s football team in Africa, underlining their dominance on the continent.
This ranking comes despite a disappointing showing in the final women’s soccer Summer Olympics event in Paris, France.
The Super Eagles fall to the bottom of the FIFA rankings, while Spain move up to 3rd
The Super falcon struggled to get past the group stage, suffering three consecutive defeats. The Super Falcons lost 1-0 to Brazil and Spain, then 3-1 to Japan, finishing bottom of Group C. After Nigeria in the African ranking are South Africa (50), Morocco (59), Zambia (62) and Ghana (66).
Despite their recent challenges, the Super Falcons continue to be recognized as a formidable force in African women’s football.
