From the outset, Nigeria took charge of the match, creating several attacking opportunities while Benin struggled to keep pace. Benin’s first real chance came in the 40th minute, but goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali made a solid save to keep them scoreless.
Just before halftime, Ademola Lookman broke the deadlock with a brilliant solo effort, weaving through the Benin defense to give Nigeria a 1-0 lead at the break.
Both teams battled for control in the second half, with Benin showing some improvement. However, Victor Osimhen doubled Nigeria’s advantage in the 78th minute, making it 2-0. Shortly afterward, Lookman completed his brace, sealing a comprehensive 3-0 victory for the Super Eagles.
